Rule 8
Functions, Duties and Powers of the Central Legal Aid Committee
In addition to the functions, duties and powers mentioned in Section 6 of the Act, the functions, duties and powers of the Central Legal Aid Committee shall be as follows:-
(a) If there is a demand for legal aid from several persons whose income is less than the prescribed income as per sub-rule (1) of Rule 6, to determine the policy necessary to determine the priority order of the persons to be provided legal aid and the priority order of the persons to be provided legal aid subject to such prescribed policy Determine,
(b) Determining the policy of partially or fully exempting expenses incurred by the committee in providing legal aid to any person in accordance with the restrictive phrase of Section 4 of the Act,
(c) In accordance with subsection (4) of Section 5 of the Act, to determine the necessary policy regarding the determination of the remuneration to be given to legal practitioners who provide legal aid and to determine the remuneration of legal practitioners who provide legal aid subject to such determined policy,
(d) In accordance with sub-rule (2) of rule 7, to determine the necessary policy regarding the evaluation of the total property or financial benefit received by the committee and to evaluate the total financial benefit received by the person who has received legal aid under such prescribed policy,
(e) If any legal practitioner appointed by the committee to provide legal aid in accordance with the Act and this regulation, in case of malpractice or negligence in providing legal aid, the case of the concerned person worsens, to recommend such legal practitioner to the Council of Legal Practitioners for action in accordance with the prevailing law. (f) To approve the annual program and budget of the Central Committee.

(e) If any legal practitioner appointed by the committee to provide legal aid in accordance with the Act and this regulation, in case of malpractice or negligence in providing legal aid, the case of the concerned person worsens, to recommend such legal practitioner to the Council of Legal Practitioners for action in accordance with the prevailing law. (f) To approve the annual program and budget of the Central Committee.
